FAQs
GENERAL
How long does the Walk take?
This depends on your level of fitness as well as how much time you have.
We’d recommend doing it between 2 and 7 days. Our most popular itineraries are 4 days of roughly 20km or 7 days of roughly 11km, both of which are available on our Bondi to Manly Walk App.
Is the Walk Mobility friendly?
As the Walk uses all the existing tracks, the entire 80km track is not mobility friendly.
There are sections of the track which are mobility friendly which we hope to share with you soon.
Please contact us on contact@bonditomanly.com if you know of any sections which are mobility friendly so we can share this with the broader community.
Is the walk dog friendly?
As the Walk uses all the existing tracks around the Harbour and through National Parks, the entire 80km track is not dog friendly.
Please check this blog for more detail of the sections where dogs are and are not allowed.
Please contact us on contact@bonditomanly.com if you know of any sections which are dog friendly so we can share this with the broader community.
Can you bike ride the Walk?
As the Walk uses the existing tracks around the Harbour, including a lot of bush tracks, it is not bike friendly.
Are there physical waymarks along the walk?
Yes! There are physical waymarks to help point you in the right direction, however in some sections they are limited. We’re working on improving this.
In the meantime, we recommend downloading the Bondi to Manly Walk app and printing a copy of our track notes to ensure you’re well prepared.
ARE there places to stop for food and drink along the track
There are loads of cafe’s, restaurants and supermarkets along the Bondi to Manly Walk.
You can plan ahead so you know your coffee, lunch and afternoon drink stops or, head out and you’ll be sure to come across something.
There are also water bubblers dispersed along the track. Click the link below to look at the locations on the B2M map.

Do sections of the walk close at night?
Yes. It’s good to be aware of the following closures if you’re looking to attempt the walk at odd hours, overnight or in one go as any closure could mean quite a detour into the neighbouring streets.
Headland Park Walking Track from Balmoral Park to Middle Head Road. From 1 October to 31 March each year, these stairs are closed from 8:30pm to 5am. From 1 April to 30 September each year, they’re closed from 6pm to 6am. Attempting to do this part of the Walk while the stairs are closed will add a long, difficult detour so best to stick to the open hours.
The Royal Botanic Garden Sydney’s open hours are seasonal. Please check their open hours here.
North Head Sanctuary: From 1 October to 31 March each year, the road gate is closed from 8:30pm to 5am. From 1 April to 30 September each year, the road gate is closed from 6pm to 6am. All trails remain open but a word of warning, it’s very dark up there with little to no street lighting. Pack a head torch.
HMAS Platypus is open from 7am to 9pm daily.
